Frankie Gardiner Mountain Reveries et Cetera
The Provincial is proud to announce Mountain Reveries et Cetera, our inaugural show featuring artist Frankie Gardiner. The opening is April 4th, 2015 from 12-4pm, and the works will be on view Saturdays 12-4, through April 25th.
Frankie Gardiner’s practice is one of loyally paying full intention to process and patiently allowing things to come. Her imagery offers glimpses of figures and animals that spill into and out of their own being. Such depictions are inseparable from the overbrim of a medium testing it's surface capacity to contain it. A tangle of bodies inextricable with each other or the landscape give an impression of embodiment or manifestation while slipping away at the same time. We are as though witness to the moment of transformation, or not. Sometimes the subjects are quite literally neither here nor there. But her work is not sleight of hand. Rather her surface and paint markings build from determined resoluteness. Gardiner's oil paintings reveal fully charged brush movement, and her watercolors give way to the blooms and pools of water laden pigments that make boundaries and meanings both compelling and mercurial. Frankie Gardiner lives and works in Waitsfield, Vermont.
